The Irish (14-1, 2-0 Big East) are one of the hottest teams in the nation. Monday's 66-60 victory at Cincinnati was Notre Dame's 12th consecutive win. The only loss for the Irish came Nov. 16, a 79-70 overtime setback to Saint Joseph's. Coach Mike Brey's team opened Big East play with a 93-74 win over Seton Hall.
Brey held a news conference in South Bend on Wednesday and, in addition to talking about his team's development, he also discussed UConn's backcourt and the hiring of coach Kevin Ollie.
We've posted the video of the entire press conference. Around the 3:00 mark you can hear Brey talk about Saturday's matchup between Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright against Notre Dame guards Eric Atkins and Jerian Grant.
Brey said he was "thrilled UConn decided to invest" in Ollie (3:45). Brey said he can tell the UConn players love Ollie and called it a "great decision by Connecticut." (4:30). In addition, Brey talks about the difference in going against a UConn team without a big front line (8:20) and how the Huskies' style has changed with the retirement of Jim Calhoun.
