Biggs Lists UCONN Among Top 5

One of the top targets for the Connecticut program comes from the state of New Jersey

The class of 2005 isn't very deep with talented big men. So a player like Tyrell Biggs, 6-foot-8 and 250-pounds from Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, New Jersey, is going to be a priority for several high major schools, including the Connecticut basketball program. But Biggs has kept the list short. "It's only a few schools," Biggs said. "Duke, Maryland, Connecticut, Pittsburgh, and Virginia are the schools I like the most right now."

Biggs commented on what he likes the most about each of the five schools: "Duke has a great tradition. They also get many players to the NBA. I like that Maryland is close to home. And they also have a chance to win.

"Connecticut just won the National Championship. It's important to me to go to a school that has a chance to win. Pittsburgh is also a team that has been winning a lot recently. And Virginia, like Maryland, I like the location of the campus and I have a lot of respect for its program."

Biggs, who finished up his IS8 league play last weekend, said he has offers from each of the five schools. "I don't have a leader right now," he stated. "I want to be able to visit all the schools. I want to take some visits soon but I don't know when I can take them."

Tyrell said he hoped to make a decision in the Fall. "I want to work on my speed and agility this summer," he said. "It's something you can only work on in individual workouts. So I have been working with a personal trainer."

Biggs wasn't sure when he would take a visit to Connecticut. But since the campus is so close, it could happen soon.
