Big Man May Visit Connecticut

Nine schools appear to have a shot at landing Tyrell Biggs

It isn't hard to figure out that Tyrell Biggs, 6-foot-8 and 250-pounds, is likely to be one of the top 50 players in the country for the 2005 class. He does a nice job utilizing his wide frame and scoring inside. Biggs also possesses a soft touch from the outside. Once he is more consistent with his jumper, Biggs will be a major impact player on the college level.

Biggs kept busy this past weekend, playing at the Basketball City event near the 23rd street Pier in New York City. This site had a chance to sit down with Tyrell's dad and discuss his recruiting situation in more detail.

Mr. Biggs: "Right now his list includes Duke, Connecticut, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Villanova, Virginia, Rutgers, Georgetown, and Syracuse."

When asked if there was a favorite, Tyrell's dad said: "No. There have been schools that have been recruiting Tyrell longer such as Villanova and Rutgers. He has been to those two campuses three or four times."

Mr. Biggs also stated that he expected Tyrell to take a visit to Duke soon. "The possible date could be June 20th," he said. "I am not sure about that but that is one date being discussed. We only started discussing more visits last night."

Another school that might get an unofficial visit could be Connecticut. "If it can't be worked out then Tyrell would take a visit in the Fall," he said.

Tyrell expects to be in New Orleans this upcoming weekend. He will also compete at the Reebok ABCD camp in Teaneck, New Jersey in early July. Biggs has already stated that the attraction of the Connecticut program has to do with two aspects: 1. The Connecticut program has proven it can win National Championships. 2. Jim Calhoun has done a terrific job in getting players ready for the NBA.
