NY Swingman Plans Trip To UCONN

The Connecticut basketball program doesn't have many scholarships to give out for next season but one player they like a lot is Danny Green

After each time you watch 6-foot-5 versatile guard/forward Danny Green of St. Mary's High School in Manhasset, New York, it becomes apparent he is not only skilled but a winner. Green can shoot, pass, defend and rebound. What more would you want in a recruit?

"I just want to go to a place where I can fit in as a freshman and play a lot," Green said. "I want to play for a team that likes to play an open offense. I would to play run and gun."

Green's ability to run a break as the lead guard or finish the transition with a drive to the basket makes him an attractive recruit. He also plays for a top high school program in New York led by head coach Tim Cluess.

"I am going to play this summer with the New York Panthers," said Green of head coach Gary Charles' AAU program. "I will be at Reebok camp, the Five Star camp, and Las Vegas too."

What fans and coaches will see is a player who can impact a game offensively in so many different ways. He can also post up smaller guards due to his skill level.

"Location doesn't matter to me in where I go to college," Green said. "I just want to go to a place where the offense fits my style and I get along good with the coaches."

Green said he has no leader in his recruiting process. "North Carolina State, Georgetown, Virginia, St. John's, Connecticut, Pittsburgh are some of the schools I am really interested in," Green said. "I plan on visiting St. John's soon. And I want to take a visit to Connecticut."

Green is expected to take a visit to St. John's tomorrow. He is likely to set up a visit to Connecticut soon and perhaps take a visit there in the month of June. "I want to see the schools in our area soon," Green said. "I would use my official visits for schools that are far away."

Green said he has been impressed with all of the coaching staffs. "It's going to be a hard decision," he said. "I don't know when I will make one but it will probably be in the Fall. I want to take some official visits before I decide."
