Long Island Center Has Expanded List

A center from Long Island is keeping his options open this summer

John Garcia, a 6-foot-9 center from Brentwood High School in Brentwood, New York, indicated to the Insiders Report that he will keep his options open this summer. "I am not in a rush to make a decision," Garcia said. "I am pretty much open."

Garcia, who will likely compete at the Team Hofstra camp this weekend and then play at the Rumble in the Bronx on Saturday and Sunday, is a terrific low post player with good hands and nimble feet.

He also plays for one of the most high profiled AAU teams in the Long Island Lightning. He also received more exposure in playing for a very talented New York Elite team at Basketball City a few weekends ago. So many college coaches are likely to get a chance to watch Garcia in action come July.

Several schools have already offered a scholarship. Among them: St. John's, Providence, Villanova, Rutgers, and Hofstra. In recent weeks, Connecticut has expressed interest too. "Georgetown and Cincinnati are showing interest in the past week," Garcia said. Garcia has already stated that St. John's and Hofstra were among his top schools because these two programs have expressed serious interest the longest out of any of the schools on his list.
