UCONN Makes Pitch For Two Teammates

A package deal in the works?

BRONX, N.Y. -- You hear kids talk about it all the time, but there is a genuine possibility that 6-6 swingman C.J. Miles and 6-8 power forward Kevin Miles could be a package deal when it comes to picking a college.

Miles and Rogers, who are playing here at the Rumble in the Bronx with Team Texas, said on Friday night that they are seriously considering attending the same college. In fact, both players made an unofficial visit to Oklahoma on Tuesday, June 8.

Rogers, a skilled 6-8 power forward from South Oak Cliff H.S. in Dallas, said that he's be offered scholarships by Illinois, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, UConn and Arizona.

Miles' list includes the identical nine programs, plus Duke, Oklahoma State, Boston College and SMU.

"We discuss it all of the time," Rogers said. "I would say there's a 99 percent chance that it will happen. We enjoy playing with each other and being around each other. We have a good chemistry."

Miles nodded in agreement after listening to Rogers. "It's the same thing he said," the versatile 6-6 wing player from Skyline H.S. in Dallas added. "Everyone that is recruiting me is recruiting him, except for Duke."

Even though both players are in the heart of Big 12 country, they insisted that distance won't be a primary factor in their decisions. As a result, UConn is one of several programs making a serious pitch at the Lone Star duo.

"I haven't talked to them that much," Miles admitted. "They came down to the school but I had already left for the Kingwood Classic. They left some stuff for me and I talked to them on the phone. Coach Calhoun called my high school coach the other day."

And what are Miles' thoughts on the Husky program? "They're a pretty good program," he said with a smile. "They just won the national championship."
