UConn Prospects On USA Basketball Rosters

USA Basketball this week announced the four 12-man rosters for the seventh annual 2004 USA Men's Youth Development Festival which will be held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (USOTC) in Colorado Springs, Colo. from June 24-27. <P> Three Huskies' class of 2005 prospects are among the 48 invited players.

Chris Douglas-Roberts. a 6-foot-5, 170-pound combo guard from Detroit's Lewis Cass Technical HS, is a member of the USA North team. Dougles-Roberts, who plays with The Family, saw his action limited earlier this spring because of a groin injury. He averaged 28 points, 10 rebounds and six assists as a junior and was named to the Detroit News 2004 All-Detroit Second Team. Other schools involved in his recruiting include Arizona, Arkansas, Duke, Florida, Kansas, Marquette, Michigan, North Carolina, North Carolina State and UCLA.

Suiting up with the USA East team will be Brandon Costner, a 6-foot-8, 230-pound combo forward from Seton Hall (NJ) Prep, has already taken an unofficial visit to the Storrs, Conn. campus. The son of Philly's Overbook HS and St. Joseph's Tony Costner has offers from nine schools -- Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, North Carolina State, Saint Joseph's, Seton Hall, UCLA. and Villanova and interesst from many others. Costner's only official visit to date was to UCLA, where he had breakfast with the Hall of Fame's John Wooden.

And Marcus Johnson, a 6-foot-6, 195-pound swingman from Westchester Senior HS in Los Angeles, Calif. will be competing with the USA West dozen. He averaged 19 points and nine rebounds this past season. A member of the Southern Cal All-Stars, Johnson is also being recruited by Arizona, Kansas, Louisville, Syracuse and USC.
