UCONN Still On List With Nivins

The summer will determine how serious Connecticut is interested in Ahmad Nivins of St. Anthony's High School in New Jersey

Ahmad Nivins, a developing 6-foot-9, 215-pound power forward/center from St. Anthony's H.S. in Jersey City, N.J., told us he is still open in his recruiting process despite the interest of many high major programs.

Nivins, competing at the Reebok ABCD camp in New Jersey, stated he also doesn't have a favorite right now. "I am just trying to work on my game this summer," he said. "I may go to the Eastern Invitational camp. But I am definitely going to Vegas for the Big Time tournament."

There are several high majors looking at him heading in this July evaluation period. Nivins said that he has scholarship offers from Seton Hall, St. John's and St. Joseph's. Others expressing interest include Rutgers, Miami, Indiana, Clemson, Florida State, Maryland and Connecticut. Nivins has been to games at Seton Hall, St. Joe's and Rutgers over the past year. "I hope to make a decision in the Fall," Nivins said. "I want to take some official visits before I decide. But I have to see who is really interested in me after the summer is over."
