UConn Prospects Play Well At Peach Jam

The Mt. Vernon H.S. duo of rising junior Jonathan Mitchell and rising soph Mike Coburn combined for 32 points but this wasn't enough to overcome the Okalahoma Athletes First Wednesday at the Peach Jam.

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. -- Despite a yeoman-like 17 point, 10 rebound effort from rising junior forward Jonathan Mitchell, the Metro Hawks dropped a close 67-63 decision to the Oklahoma-based Athletes First program on Wednesday morning at the Nike Peach Jam Invitational Tournament.

While Mitchell supplied the muscle inside, Mt. Vernon rising sophomore guard Mike Coburn led the backcourt charge with 15 points for the Hawks. Coming off his all-star week at the Reebok ABCD Camp, Don Bosco forward Tyrell Biggs scored 10 points in the loss for Metro.

Guard Obi Munello powered his way to 17 points, while muscular insider Taylor Griffin added 16 points and six rebounds for Athletes First.
