UCONN Among Top 5 For John Garcia

John Garcia lists the National Champs among his top five schools

The Connecticut program has yet to offer Brentwood High School center John Garcia, 6-foot-9. However, that didn't stop Garcia from placing Connecticut on his top five list. John sliced his list down to five top schools with the possibility of a sixth school to stay in the recruiting race.

"St. John's, Seton Hall, Villanova, Pittsburgh, and Connecticut are the schools left and maybe Kentucky," Garcia said. "I haven't heard from Kentucky since the ABCD camp."

So Garcia appears to be unsure of how serious Kentucky is. Garcia, who shot up the stock chart after having a fantastic Reebok ABCD camp, continued his momentum by playing well at a team camp in New Jersey and then competing at an ADIDAS event in Atlanta, Georgia.

Previous schools considered by Garcia included Richmond, Hofstra, Rutgers, Miami, Providence, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.

Garcia will play with the Long Island Lightning in Orlando, Florida later this week. It's likely that the five or perhaps even six schools will evaluate Garcia hard. It's also likely that an offer from Connecticut could come very soon, according to sources close to Garcia.
