UCONN Stays With Ahmad Nivins

Ahmad Nivins says he remains interested in the Connecticut basketball program but he has some offers from high major schools

Connecticut has made it known that their top priorities right now are Jeff Adrien and Andrew Bynum. However, one particular forward who had a hot finish to his July evaluation period was Ahmad Nivins, a 6-foot-9 rising senior from St. Anthony's High School in Jersey City, New Jersey. Nivins told the Insiders Report that he continues to maintain Connecticut on his list but does have some offers. The National Champs have yet to offer a scholarship to Nivins.

"I am wide open," he said. "But I do have some offers already. Pittsburgh, Clemson, Rutgers, Seton Hall, and St. Joe's have offered."

Nivins also said he was interested in Maryland, Miami, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Virginia, and Indiana.

"I am really not sure whether I will make a decision in the Fall or wait until next spring," he said. "I thought I played well in Las Vegas so I am just waiting to see who is really interested."

Ahmad had also previously played well at the Metro Classic held in the first evaluation period. "I really didn't think the ABCD camp was a good place for me to show my skills," he said. "The guards dominated the ball so I rarely had many touches. But when I got with my AAU team and we jelled together, I felt much more comfortable on the offensive end."

Nivins also added: "I don't have a leader right now. I just want to see what schools are interested in me right now."
