Big Days Ahead For UCONN Men's Basketball

The next couple of weeks are important for the Connecticut program

The next several days are particularly important to the Connecticut basketball program. First, forward Jeff Adrien, 6-foot-6 from Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, will likely take a visit to the Connecticut campus this weekend.

There is always a chance Adrien could make his decision after the visit. Reasons: 1. UCONN has an offer on the table to John Garcia. 2. UCONN has an offer on the table to Marcus Johnson. 3. UCONN has an offer on the table to Vernon Goodridge. 4. UCONN has an offer on the table to Andrew Bynum.

Adrien, who also lists Pittsburgh, Boston College, and Kansas among his top schools, has already stated to the Insiders Report he doesn't want to go too far from home. It's one reason why Arizona, a school that did offer, is not part of the recruiting process.

"The West Coast is too far for me," Adrien said. "Arizona is a great school. But I am going to look at my other schools."

If Adrien decides to take more visits after his trip to Connecticut, certainly Kansas, Boston College, and Pittsburgh would have a shot for campus trips. Adrien has stated to the Insiders Report that he thinks highly of all three programs.

Adrien has a big decision ahead -- whether to keep the process going after his UCONN visit or make a commitment. UCONN was one of a few schools that watched Adrien play extensively throughout the summer.

Connecticut head coach Jim Calhoun and his assistants were at most of his games. And the same can be said for the other schools involved too that have offered Adrien. Kansas head coach Bill Self was seen in Florida watching Adrien as well.
