UCONN Big Man Target Awaits Call

It appears to be only a matter of time before Brentwood High School big man John Garcia is meeting up with head coach Jim Calhoun and his staff

John Garcia, a 6-foot-9 center from Brentwood High School in Brentwood, New York, told the Insiders Report he is waiting on Connecticut assistant coach Clyde Vaughn getting back to him with a date to visit the National Champions' campus. "He's supposed to call my father," Garcia said.

But before he takes a trip to Connecticut, Garcia will take an unofficial visit to a Big East school on Friday. "I am going to visit Pittsburgh and go there for a couple of days," Garcia said. "I'm looking forward to it. They have a good program."

Garcia was also planning another visit tomorrow. However, this visit might not take place. "I wanted to take a visit to Seton Hall tomorrow," he said. "But it doesn't look like it's going to happen since my parents can't come."

John, who was named to the Reebok All Star game in early July, played this summer with the Long Island Lightning and the New York Elite. He has some other schools of interest too. "I am still very interested in St. John's," he said. "I am also very interested in Connecticut and Villanova."

Garcia said he does not have a leader in his recruiting process just yet. The visits will likely start to clarify his thoughts over the next few weeks.
