UCONN Drops Out With NJ Forward

Brandon Costner has a more narrow focus in his recruiting process

After Jeff Adrien made a verbal commitment to the Connecticut program, the National Champs had some decisions to make in their next recruiting targets. Sources tell the Insiders Report that Connecticut backed away from Brandon Costner in the past 24 hours. And Costner has responded by cutting his list down.

Costner chopped his list to North Carolina State, Kansas, Seton Hall, and UCLA. He has already taken a trip to UCLA. Costner previously had taken unofficial visits to Seton Hall and Connecticut.

Costner, a 6-foot-8 versatile forward, plays for Seton Hall Prep in New Jersey. He is a high quality recruit who will be a good college basketball player in the future. But Connecticut had to make some changes in its recruiting focus.

The National Champs are now targeting Marcus Johnson, Marcus Williams, Danny Green, John Garcia, and Andrew Bynum. It appears that Connecticut is willing to try to land two more recruits in the 2005 class.
