UConn Coach Reaches 400 Win Milestone

Women's soccer's Len Tsantiris reached 400th-career victory Sunday

While UConn fans were savoring the Huskies 22-20 come-from-behind win over Duke football on Saturday, the school's nationally-ranked women's soccer team grabbed a decisive 3-0 win over in-state foe Hartford Sunday in New Haven, Conn.

In the process, Head Coach Len Tsantiris reached his 400th-career victory, only the second women's collegiate coach to reach that plateau.

The Huskies dominated Hartford for the entire game, tallying 25 shots, 16 on goal, to the Hawks' two. Senior forward Jessica Gjertsen led the offensive attack with a goal and an assist, while also totaling a team-high five shots.

Tsantiris is in his 24th year in charge of the women's soccer program at Connecticut. Under his guidance, UConn has advanced to 22 consecutive NCAA National Tournaments, including four visits to the NCAA Championship Game in 1984, 1990, 1997 and 2003.
