2006 Prospect Has UCONN On Short List

Rice High School forward Curtis Kelly has Connecticut high on his list

During the contact period, the Connecticut staff has crossed the country keeping track of not only the 2005 classs but several players in the 2006 class. One particular player in the New York City area that has received some attention is Curtis Kelly, a 6-foot-8 and 215-pound forward from Rice High School in New York City.

Kelly, who played this week at IS8 in Queens, is a player that usually is in constant motion. His long arms and legs have attracted high major attention over the past couple of years.

Just a junior, Kelly stated he is wide open in his recruiting process. But he is interested in some big name schools.

"North Carolina, St. John's, Syracuse, Connecticut," Kelly said. "I like those schools. But there are others."

Kelly previously mentioned interest in Georgia Tech, South Florida, Virginia Tech, and Texas. Kelly is still a work in progress with his perimeter game. He is still learning how to beat his man off the dribble to free up his jumper. "I have been working on my perimeter game," Kelly said. "That includes ballhandling and shooting."

Kelly, who mainly plays with the New York City Gauchos in summer AAU play, will continue to compete with the famous AAU program at the IS8 Fall season. This site will continue to have updates from IS8 over the next couple of months.
