UConn 2005 Target Has 5 Offers

UConn is in the recruiting hunt for 6-5, 180-pound small forward Dionte Christmas from Lutheran Christian Academy in Philadelphia.

His name might not be on the top 100 lists, but his name is making the rounds in high major circles. Dionte Christmas, a 6-foot-5, 180 pound small forward from Lutheran Christian Academy in Philadelphia can score it, and does so in bunches, and the junior will likely be filling it up for a high major program when all is said and done.

Christmas will take an unofficial visit to USC with Lutheran Christian teammate Stefon Jackson on October 9th. The Pac-10 progam has offered a scholarship, according to Dionte. Others in pursuit of the Philadelphia native include Illinois, Virginia, Providence, St. Joe's, Seton Hall, UConn, UTEP, South Florida, Villanova, and UMass. Virginia, Providence, UTEP, and Villanova have offered along with USC.

"I don't have a favorite," said Christmas. "I still have to decide where I'm going to take my other visits."

Christmas is a wiry forward who can knock down the three, will slash for buckets, and get out on the break to wreak havoc in transition. He is a decent athlete who will need to continue to get stronger. However, offensively, he is a handful.

Dionte competed with the Sonny Hill All-Stars in AAU ball this summer.

Christmas has not yet taken the SAT.
