Swingman Has UConn Among Top 3

Rob Thomas, 6-foot-6 swingman from South Kent School in Conn. lists three top schools.

Rob Thomas, a 6-foot-6 swingman from South Kent in Connecticut, told the Insiders Report this past weekend that he has a top three list. Thomas, who hails from New York City, played last season for Jere Quinn's St. Thomas More program.

"I don't have a leader," said Thomas, who was previously favoring St. John's University. "But I am interested in St. John's, Syracuse, and Connecticut. It's early to be thinking about my recruiting. Right now I am just trying to concentrate on the books."

Thomas, who played this past weekend for Gary Charles' Long Island Panthers team in the much heralded IS8 League in South Jamaica, Queens, is a terrific scorer who is very bouncy.

"I am trying to work on my defense this season," Thomas said. "I am also trying to work on my left hand and be more consistent in shooting from the perimeter."

Thomas is considered one of the better players in the 2006 class. He won't be with the Panthers on Saturdays anymore this IS8 season. "I had break this weekend," Thomas said. "But starting next week I go to school on Saturdays too. So if we play on Sunday I can play again."

The Panthers next game is Saturday at IS8.
