UCONN Expects Visit From NJ Center

The University of Connecticut basketball program is preparing for a visit from New Jersey center Andrew Bynum

In two weeks, the University of Connecticut will be hosting one of the country's top big men in the class of 2005. But time is ticking away in the recruiting process for Andrew Bynum, the talented 7-foot center from St. Joe's in New Jersey.

Bynum has already taken two official visits -- to Georgia and Georgia Tech. Each school made some serious noise in the recruiting race with its official visits.

This weekend North Carolina hosts Bynum for Midnight Madness weekend. Connecticut then gets its chance to show its love to Bynum with a campus trip on October 22nd. Rutgers also still remains in the recruiting race for Andrew.

"After he takes his visit to North Carolina this weekend and to Connecticut the following weekend, he might narrow his list down," Corey said. "He could get it down to two or three schools."

Corey added: "Andrew had good trips to both Georgia and Georgia Tech," Corey said. "It was a great time. We saw the LSU-Georgia football game. That was a lot of fun. We had a chance to see the city of Atlanta. It is a real nice city. We had a chance to see the MLK Memorial (Martin Luther King). We also spent some time at the ESPN Sports Zone."

On Connecticut: "Andrew likes the fact that someone like Emeka Okafor improved so much at Connecticut. And they have won a lot lately. They won the National Championship too."

On North Carolina: "The great tradition there. Plus Coach Williams has coached many pros."
