Huskies Land Florida Athlete

Randy Edsall and his staff lost out on two big time in-state recruits as Matt Shaughnessy committed to Wisconsin and Willie Harriott chose Penn State this week. All is not lost as Connecticut landed their second Florida recruit in the last five days.

Delray Beach (Fla.) Atlantic safety Courtney Robinson (6-0, 195, 4.4) has made a verbal commitment to Connecticut. Robinson is the second Floridian to pledge to the Huskies this week joining Coral Springs' two-sport athlete, defensive end Cody Brown.

According to Atlantic head coach Chris Bean, Robinson chose Connecticut over interest from Bowling Green, Toledo, and Miami (OH). Robinson slid under the radar for most of the year.

"Its easy for a kid in South Florida to get over looked, Bean said. "Courtney is a player, I think Connecticut will be real happy with him."

Robinson has the size and speed to play cornerback or safety. Connecticut wants him strictly as a safety.
