Bynum All Set For Connecticut

UConn's signee, outstanding center <B>Andrew Bynum</B>, is playing in tonight's Michael Jordan Classic.

It's been an exciting week for Connecticut bound center Andrew Bynum of St. Joseph High School in Plainsboro, New Jersey. Bynum, 7-feet and 300 pounds, is playing in tonight's Michael Jordan Classic (8 PM ET) at Madison Square Garden. He is considered one of the top recruits in the class of 2005.

"I have had a good time," Bynum said of week in New York City. "We have seen the Intrepid (big ship in New York Harbor) and also met Michael Jordan."

Bynum also turned away any thoughs of jumping to the NBA this spring. "I am focused on going to college and playing for Connecticut," Bynum said. "I don't want to go into the NBA and have to sit a few years before I get a chance to play. I want to play right now."

Andrew will play for one of the country's top coaches in Jim Calhoun. "I speak to him alot," Bynum said. "He wants me to get stronger and lift weights so I have been doing that. I want to be in the best shape before I go to Connecticut."

Bynum plans on attending Connecticut in July. "I am looking forward to it," Bynum said. "I think I can help out right away. I just have to work hard and be ready."

Andrew suffered an injury to his leg at the start of the season. He did return later in the year. "It feels good right now," Bynum said. "I have had no problems with it. So I feel fine."
