Will Harris Commits

After considering offers from a half-dozen schools, Will Harris whittled his options down to a trio of possibilities. UConn, DePaul and Seton Hall made the cut onto his short list. After a final visit to Connecticut last week, Harris was ready to end his recruitment and he did so at a press conference held at the ABCD Camp this afternoon.

Wearing a #3 UConn jersey, William Harris, a 6'7", 220 pound forward from Queens, committed to Connecticut at a press conference held today at the ABCD camp.

Harris selected the Huskies over runner-ups DePaul and Seton Hall. Harris becomes the second member of UConn's 2006 recruiting class joining New York combo forward Curtis Kelly. He will spend his senior senior year at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire.

He had originally committed to Nebraska as a member of the class of 2006, but family concerns caused him to withdraw that commitment and reopen his recruitment. Harris took the last of several unofficial visits to Connecticut last Thursday and settled on the Huskies earlier this week

Harris projects as a 3/2 at the college level and his ability to score has raised his stock over the past several months. He possesses a solid perimeter jump shot and his strength enables him to score around the basket. He needs to work on his footspeed and lateral quickness as he makes the transition to the wing.

More on the Harris commitment later tonight.
