Hoping for a chance to stay Home

Randy Edsall and his staff do an outstanding job of scouting out the talent in Connecticut. One player who could be in the fold with an outstanding senior season is Zach Hurd. Hurd loves the Huskies and is not shy about saying as much.

It's tough when you're 6'-7" and 240-pounds and people tell you you're too small. That's the problem that Waterford (Conn.) offensive lineman Zach Hurd is facing.

"Everyone wants to see how much weight I can gain, they want me up to (255-260)," Hurd said. "I'm still 16 until September, so they want to see what my maturity level is like."

Hurd has taken unofficial visits to Maryland, Penn State, and Connecticut.

Maryland: "I really liked the school, but I wasn't a big fan of the area it was in."

Penn State: "I like it there. I really liked the area the school is in."

Connecticut: "They're my favorite, I liked the coaches. I really felt I fit in there and its close too home."

Hurd is also receiving interest from Virginia, Northeastern, Hofstra, and New Hampshire.
