Maryland Defensive End Commits to UConn

UConn nailed down their third commitment in the class of 2006 yesterday when defensive end Shawn Lemon pledged to the Huskies. Lemon joins linebacker Anthony Davis and New York wide receiver Kevin Poles in the Huskies' early recruiting class.

Randy Edsall has had success recruiting Maryland, the success will continue as the Huskies have landed another Maryland native. According to Westlake, Md. head coach Dom Zaccarelli, one of his standout seniors, Shawn Lemon, has committed to Connecticut while on his official visit this weekend.

"Lemon loved it up there and he did commit," Zaccarelli said.

Lemon is just scratching the surface as far as his potential goes according to his coach.

"He set our school record with 15 sacks and we've had some impressive players here like Randy Starks, Levon Chisley, and Derrell Jones. He really came into his own this year -- he is a very active player off the edge."
