PA Lineman Bardzak Commits to UConn

The UConn Huskies have landed their second verbal commitment in their football recruiting class of 2007. Pottesville (PA) lineman Gary Bardzak has joined Algonquin (MA) kicker Dave Teggart as UConn commits.

The UConn Huskies snared their second verbal commitment as Pottesville High (PA) offensive lineman Gary Bardzak has accepted a scholarship offer from the Huskies.

The versatile Bardzack chose the Huskies over strong interest from Syracuse, Rutgers, Pittsburgh and West Virginia.

The 6'4", 290-pound lineman had originally planned to wait until after the summer to chose a school, but the Huskies made enough of an impact that he felt comfortable pledging early. UConn was the first school to offer him a scholarship.

In a recent interview with PantherDigest.com, Pottesville High coach Kevin Keating was effusive in his praise of Bardzak.

"I have been coaching for 18 years and I don't think I have ever had a lineman as athletic as Gary Bardzak. It's rare to see someone that size that moves that well. He's capable of playing center, guard and tackle."

Bardzak is rated as the 29th-best player in Pennsylvania and a Three-Star recruit by Scout.com.
