Fitzgerald Bobo Favors a Trio of Schools

It's all about time for Fitzgerald Bobo---how much time he has to make visits, and how fast his time will be. Every team that has recruited Bobo likes his game film, but the receiver's speed is the big question mark. He ran a 4.65 40-yard dash earlier this year, but has been working at it and said it has improved.

Several teams are waiting for Bobo to attend their camps and prove it.

"Everything's a little crazy right now because I'm moving into a new house," Bobo said. "So I wasn't able to attend any camps in June, but hopefully I can get out to a few schools and work out for them in July."

Bobo said he plans to run a timed 40 for his high school coach within the next couple of weeks. His coach told him if he runs a 4.6 or better, Pittsburgh will likely offer Bobo before he ever visits the campus.

Two of the schools that have been recruiting Bobo the hardest are Pittsburgh and Maryland.

"With Pittsburgh, my high school teammate (wide receiver) Elijah Fields is there," Bobo said. "The coaches keep telling him they're very interested in me and want me to come and meet them. Plus, it's local, so that helps, too."

Regardless of what he runs in the 40, Bobo said he expects an offer from Pittsburgh.

Another school that has entered Bobo's recruitment is Maryland. The Terrapins have improved their position with Bobo because his mother lives in Maryland and he would like to stay close to her if possible.

"I'm planning on going down there to Maryland some time soon," Bobo said. "My mother being there is a big plus for them. The coaches want to meet me, and we will see where it goes from there."

Bobo, who recently achieved a qualifying score on his SAT's, said that another school could join the other two at the top of his list, but he wants to see their campus first.

"I have seen Pittsburgh and Maryland's campuses," he said. "But UConn has been recruiting me pretty hard and if I see the campus and they impress me, I would put them up there in my top schools."

Bobo has an interesting family connection to UConn that may pay dividends for the Huskies.

Bobo's uncle recently married Connecticut running back Lou Allen's sister. So Allen and Bobo have formed a relationship, and Allen has been a conduit between the UConn coaches and Bobo.

"(Allen) keeps telling me that they could really use a receiver with my size," Bobo said. "And how they really want me to get up to the campus and meet all the coaches. It's nice because I have family there as well."

Bobo said he plans on visiting UConn some time in July, and is still not sure when he will decide on a school.

"Those are my three top schools right now," Bobo said. "But who knows what can happen. Everything is still up in the air."
