Huskies Offer Pantale

Chris Pantale traveled to Storrs this weekend knowing that written offers from Syracuse and Virginia were sitting at home on a kitchen table or hung on the fridge, but wasn't aware he'd be taking a third one home with him from Connecticut.

At 6-foot-5, 230-pounds Wayne, N.J., product Chris Pantale is being recruited at, and could end up on either side of the ball depending on how his body matures and which school he chooses to attend. At this point most of the schools he's been in contact with prefer the Wayne Valley star on defense, but it was at tight end that he was extended an offer to play by Head Coach Randy Edsall this weekend.

"It was a good day at Connecticut," Pantale said. "When I first got there I met Coach (Scott Lakatos) who took me over and introduced me to Coach (Dave) McMichael who is in charge of the tight ends. They said they look to stretch the field with their tight ends and saw that ability in my play, so that's why they like me. I sat in on the positional meeting and learned a bit about their offense."

"I really liked both the campus and the facilities," Pantale explained. "They said their facility is one of the largest on the east coast and I believe it as everything looked very impressive. The coaches that I met all seemed like good guys and I liked the way they worked the players during drills and practice in general. During a break in the practice Coach (Randy) Edsall came over, told my father and I had a scholarship offer and then proceeded to tell us how I would fit in both as a player and a student at Connecticut."

With three offers in the bag and plenty more interest coming his way, Pantale has set no time frame for a decision and has said he is leaving his options open in recruiting. When asked if he had interest in Connecticut moving forward, Pantale did say that "there is definitely interest in them and that he could see himself fitting in at Connecticut." At this point in recruiting that is at least a solid position that Connecticut has put themselves in for this talented two way standout.

As a junior, Pantale registered 110 tackles, four sacks and three interceptions earning him first team All-Conference and All-Area honors as well as a second team bid for All-County at linebacker. He also caught 18 passes for 205 yards and four touchdowns.
