Huskies Wow Harris

Three-star JUCO tight end Gerald Harris made the trip from Corsicana, Texas to Storrs this weekend and got a taste of Northeast hospitality, and Northeast weather during his visit. Right now Harris is down to three final schools in Ole Miss, Utah and Connecticut and plans to make a decision within the next couple of days.

Gerald Harris, a 6-foot-5, 245-pound tight end from Navarro Junior College in Texas took his official visit to Connecticut as planned this weekend and came away impressed with the Husky program and campus. He spoke to us tonight about his thoughts on what he experienced in Storrs and where the Huskies stand in his recruiting picture.

"The trip went really well and I had a great time," Harris said. "I got a chance to meet the entire staff, learn about their business program and tour the facilities and I liked it there, I liked it a lot. Head Coach Randy Edsall was an enjoyable person who was great with people and really seemed like the type of guy I would love to play for. Talking to him definitely made me excited about an opportunity to play for Connecticut because of all those things and how involved with the team he looked to be. I also thought the rest of the staff was great and got a good vibe from them."

"The tight ends coach (Dave) McMichael and I hit it off right from the start and he is a mellow guy just like me," Harris explained. "We watched some film of the tight ends together and then he handed me off to Coach (Lyndon) Johnson who showed me around the campus and facilities. I liked the way the campus was set up because it was fairly compact and the business school was right next to the football facilities. The facilities were state of the art and all brand new, so that was really impressive too. I think I would have a great athletic and academic opportunity at Connecticut and they have a very structured environment which I liked. I have never seen that much snow at once, that much I can tell you."

Harris stated that Connecticut was even with his two other offers and that he would be deciding within the next could of days.
