ESPN unimpressed with UNLV last season

After finishing just 16-13 last year in the rollercoaster season that resulted in the firing of Bill Bayno, ESPN will only show UNLV twice in the 2001-2002 season.

Apparently ESPN, like a lot of UNLV fans, will play the wait-and-see game as to whether new head coach Charlie Spoonhour can turn the Rebels into an exciting/winning program again. UNLV appeared in 4 ESPN Big Monday games last season, including the exhilarating game where Dalron Johnson hit a game winning 3-point shot in Laramie, Wyoming at the buzzer. Was therea much more exciting finish to a Big Monday game in 2000-2001?

The Rebels will make three other national TV appearances, all at home. Here is a list of the nationally televised games:

Feb. 11 - ESPN - UNLV vs. Utah
Dec. 22 - ESPN - UNLV vs. Texas (Las Vegas Showdown)
Feb. 3 - ABC UNLV vs. DePaul
Feb. 9 - ABC - UNLV vs. BYU
Feb. 12 - Regional ESPN - UNLV at Utah.
