SDSU Takes on Houston in the 25th Las Vegas Bowl

Houston Jumps All Over SDSU in Opening Stanza

As the 25th Las Vegas bowl got underway at 12:30 pm at Sam Boyd Stadium today, all the talk was about Donnel Pumphrey being on the verge of breaking Ron Dayne's all time rushing record. Houston instead stole the show under new head coach Major Applewhite's direction as they jumped all over the MWC champions 10-0.

Houston did an excellent job of shutting down SDSU's prolific runner Pumphrey, only allowing -1 yard total on 7 attempts.

The Cougar's Greg Ward was potent in the air as well as on the ground. The Huston QB went 6/9 for 69 yards and ran in a touchdown as well.
