Rebels Fall at UAB

Alabama Birmingham used a decisive 16-2 run to break open a 41-41 game in the second half. PJ Arnold led the Blazers with 20 points in the game, but he was especially crucial during that 16-2 run. Arnold connected on 3 three pointers in two minutes to give the Blazers the 57-43 lead. UNLV clawed its way back into the game and cut the lead to as little as 7 when Dalron Johnson connected on a lay-in. After a Lafonte Johnson steal, the Rebels could have cut into the lead more, but they came up empty on four straight shots during the possession.

Dalron Johnson was held to only three points in the first half, but he finished with a game high 17 points for the Rebels. Other Rebels in double figures included Lamar Bigby with 10 and Lafonte Johnson with 12.

PJ Arnold led the Blazers with 20 points while reserve Morris Finley scorched the Rebels for 15 points.

UNLV fell to 3-3 on the season with the loss and next face Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles Saturday night.
