Rebels land two DLs

It was another successful recruiting weekend for Mike Sanford's UNLV football squad which landed a pair of highly-touted defensive end prospects.

Bryce Saldi (6-3, 215) of mythical prep national champion Southlake (Tx.) Carroll High and Luke Plante (6-4, 245) of Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., both committed to the Rebels.

Saldi, whose older brother John starred at linebacker for Texas Tech, picked the Rebels over the Red Raiders. He had 11 sacks and 19 tackles for loss and was a third team all 5A pick in Texas.

Plante, who prepped at Rim of the World High School in Lake Arrowhead, Calif., was a first team all-Foothill Conference pick at Chaffey College and also was honorable mention All-America by J.C. Grid-Wire.
