Where's Brice?

It has been a week since the spring national letter of intent signing period began. UNLV quickly announced the signing of guard Oscar Bellfield from Westchester High in Los Angeles but so far there's been no official announcement on the Rebels' other expected signee, 6-10 center Brice Massamba of Findlay Prep. So is he having second thoughts?

UNLV basketball fans can sleep easy.

Massamba's signing has been delayed by simple logistics. Because the talented center prospect still hasn't turned 18, that means he needs to have a parent sign his letter of intent. And Massamba's mother lives in Sweden.

Although the letter could have been signed and faxed back-and-forth between countries, Massamba decided instead to mail it.

Best guess is that the official signed letter of intent will arrive at UNLV by Thursday. Until then, the school can't comment on Massamba's status because he technically is still considered a recruitable athlete.
