Kendall Wallace was 6-of-8 from 3-point range in the first half, scoring 20 of his game-high 25 points before the break. Wink Adams was 3-of-5 from 3-point range in the first quarter, scoring 13 of his 15 points in the first 10 minutes of the contest as the Runnin' Rebels made 8-of-13 from beyond the arc for 62 percent before the second quarter got underway.
UNLV made another five 3-pointers before halftime and entered the locker room shooting 12-of-19 from 3-point range for 63 percent and was 21-of-41 from the field for 51 percent.
The Runnin' Rebels went on a 25-2 run in the first quarter, making seven 3-pointers over that stretch, and took a 36-10 lead into the second. The Runnin' Rebels increased the advantage to 32 points at halftime, 54-22.
"My teammates are confident in me and kept feeding me the ball, and I just kept trying to knock down the shots," Wallace said. "Our pressure defense really got them out of rhythm and once we started going, it was over from there."
UNLV led by as many as 45 points when Scott Hoffman's long jumper made the score 97-52 with 20 seconds left in the game.
René Rougeau and Tre'Von Willis each scored 13 for UNLV, while Mareceo Rutledge had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Beas Hamga also recorded double figures in rebounds with 10.
UNLV shot 47 percent from 3-point range for the game, making 16-of-34, and shot 43 percent from the field.
"Our intensity and pressure defensively is probably something that they are not as used to as teams are in the United States," UNLV head coach Lon Kruger said. "We tried to take them out of running their offense, which we have done a good job of over the last two years with teams at home too.
"We continue to make progress each and every night we play, which is good to see. I told our guys at halftime that we only have a game and a half to play until November, so let's not give away any minutes, focus like the score is 0-0 and just work on getting better. Our guys have done that."
The Pirates made 15 3-pointers, but only shot 33 percent on 45 attempts and also shot 33 percent from the field for the game. Jason Cameron led South West Metro with 14 points, while Steven Broom led the team with eight rebounds.
The game was UNLV's fifth on its six-game exhibition tour of Australia that runs through Saturday. The Runnin' Rebels lost their first contest on Thursday, 72-64, to the Sutherland Sharks, defeated the Illawarra Seahawks, 77-75, on Friday, beat the West Sydney Razorbacks, 77-71, on Saturday and defeated the Queensland All-Stars, 96-76, on Monday.
UNLV's will travel to Cairns on Wednesday and play the Cairns Marlins that night.
