Farmer Commits to USC

The USC Trojans landed the commitment of George Farmer, a five-star wide receiver, and one of the most explosive prospects in the 2011 recruiting class.

Farmer, who was a longtime USC lean, selected the Trojans over Cal, Florida, Oregon and Miami.

"USC is the right place for me," he said. "We are going to win some national championships."

The five-star recruit didn't have a big announcement ceremony like most top prospects, instead he just called the USC coaches and let them know that he wanted to be a Trojan.

"They were loving it and screaming," Farmer said when asked about the coaches reaction to the big news. "I feel like they are going to push me and get the best out of me."

The Serra standout will be reunited with former teammate Robert Woods, who was recently named the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year.

"It's going to be awesome," he said. "It's great what we did here but I can't wait to see what we do on the next level."

The two helped Serra win a CIF state championship last season, and Farmer will once again be in the state championship next week at the Home Depot Center.

SCPlaybook will have more on Farmer's decision, including a video interview with the newest verbal commitment, later this evening.

George Farmer led Serra to their second-straight CIF Championship on Friday.
