Danville (KY) Boyle County linebacker Lamar Dawson will be a Trojan.

Dawson, Scout's No. 9 ranked middle linebacker, selected USC over Oregon, Kentucky, Tennessee and Central Florida at a press conference at his high school Wednesday.

Leading his team to back-to-back state championships. Dawson had 158 tackles, four interceptions and three forced fumbles as a senior.

The Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Kentucky, Dawson bolsters a Trojan linebacker corps that was down in numbers for myriad reasons, notably medical conditions that ended the USC careers of Frankie Telfort before he ever played a down and Jarvis Jones after his sophomore season, leading to a transfer to Georgia.

Dawson joins New Jersey product Anthony Sarao, Tre Madden of Mission Viejo, Charles Burks of Huntington Beach Edison and early enrollee Dallas Kelley in the class of 2011, as USC made linebacker depth a priority this recruiting cycle.
