Junior to Watch: TE Zach Miller

The Trojans will be looking to add a TE or two for their class of 2004 and Zach Miller of Phoenix Desert Vista HS is the early favorite to be tops on the West Coast.

Wearesc: So, which schools are you looking at right now?

Miller: Right now I like Miami, ASU, ND, USC and that's pretty much it.

Wearesc: So would you say that those are your solid top four?

Wearesc: Do you like those schools in that order?

Miller: No, I don't know about the order yet.

Wearesc: Can you give me a few thoughts about each schools starting with Miami?

Miller: With Miami, I like the way they use their TE's. Also the guys who have played TE there have gone onto the NFL. ND, I've like that school since I was little. ASU, they're my in-state school, they're close. SC, I like their program and the prestige there and stuff. I like to catch the ball and USC definitely throws the ball a lot. I think they'd be a good school. I could definitely see myself playing there.

Wearesc: Do you have offers from those four schools?

Miller: I have offers from all three but USC.

Wearesc: So if USC were to offer, would that elevate them in your eyes?

Miller: Probably, yeah. I haven't talked to coach Carroll or coach Chow, but I'm sure I will talk to them in May. They've written me a lot though. They said that I was the top TE prospect and that they'll be calling me in May. (note: the NCAA quiet period rule prohibits coaches from calling recruits until May)

Wearesc: So what factors are you looking for in a school?

Miller: I'm looking mainly for coaches, early PT. Also, proximity is really not a factor now but it might be later, I'm not sure yet.

Wearesc: How do you think you did at the recent Nike Camp in LA? I read you did very well.

Miller: I think I could have done a little better, I dunno. You never know at those things.

Wearesc: Can you give me your stats for last year?

Miller: On offense, I had 27 catches for 540 yards and 6 TD's. At DE I had 102 overall tackles and 11 sacks.

Wearesc: What would you say are your strengths?

Miller: I like to catch the ball and run. I think I have good speed.

Wearesc: Anything you'd like to work on?

Miller: Blocking. I'm a pretty good blocker, but you can always get better.

Wearesc: Ht. Wt. Forty time?

Miller: 6'4", 240, 4.7.

Wearesc: When do you think you'll commit?

Miller: I'll try and go through the process and then just play it by ear from there.
