Extra Points: Takeaways from Friday

Some extra observations, sights and notes after Friday's practice at Howard Jones Field.

First, Da'John "Juicy" Harris had the pick of the day yesterday. The offense was so flustered by the 310-pounder's interception he didn't get stopped until after he scored. Cornerback Isiah Wiley also had one. But it wasn't quite the same.

Second, Matt Barkley's performance as of late has been questionable. In yesterday's practice the quarterback had at least three "sacks" in the Trojans' 11 on 11 drills, although there was no actual contact on Barkley.

Third, signalcaller Max Wittek is looking a lot more confident this week than in his first go at Fall Camp. Wittek converted on a lot of deep passes to and moved quite comfortably out of the pocket when needed.

Fourth, Markeith Ambles donned an unnumbered white (defense) jersey for the second straight day. Grouped with the defensive backs, he had a mixed day in the interception drills, catching a few and dropping a couple.

Fifth, Lane Kiffin was very hands-on with the receiving core Friday. They were working on a new route combination and Kiffin was handing out each individual critiques or instructions.
