Junior to Watch: WR Justin Shaw

One of the top five wide receivers at the USC Nike Camp on April 6th was Justin Shaw out of Palmdale High School. WeAreSC.com caught up with Justin and he had the following update for us…

Justin Shaw describes himself as a mix between Keyshawn and Terrell Owens…the high rent district indeed. However, Shaw has the confidence and the athleticism to back any comparisons of playing style. Justin is a 6'2", 193-pound silky smooth receiver with an astounding 35" vertical. He uses his "hops" to his advantage frequently on the field out jumping defenders to create separation. Just like Key, Justin takes a lot of pride in his blocking from the flanker spot. Shaw has run as low as a 4.4 forty, however the Nike Camp times were in the 4.5 to 4.61 range. He also did 18 reps of 185 pounds and had a 4.19 shuttle time at USC. Shaw maxes out on the bench at 280, the squat at 400.

Several schools have been expressing their interest in Shaw. His favorites include USC, UCLA, Arizona State, Colorado, Michigan, Notre Dame, Washington, and Washington State. He claims to true favorite from that group, and currently has no offers. Justin would like to take all five official trips and possibly make his decision later in the recruiting process.

Shaw also plays on the defensive side at cornerback. In fact, he was All-League at corner last season. In addition, there were All-CIF honors at wide receiver and he was his team's MVP. Justin ended up with 49 receptions for 717 yards and 9 touchdowns at flanker. He also had 4 interceptions at corner. However, he is being recruited by USC at wide out. Coach Orgeron is handling Shaw's recruitment for USC. Justin likes to winning tradition/program at USC. He really hit it off with the SC coaches. He plans on attending the one of the two speed camps on either June 7th or 14th at USC, as well as parts of the Four-Day camp at USC on June 22nd through the 25th. He expects to be fully qualified and is planning to major in Sociology in college. First things first, he cannot wait for football season, he was ready to strap on the pads yesterday!
