"I remember going to one of their first Spring practices and just falling in love with everything. The coaches are great, the team is really rolling, I have friends on the team who love it there. I just didn't feel the need to wait and put it off. I had said originally that if USC offered, I would go ahead and commit but then I backed off that when I wasn't sure how interested they were in me.
"There was a period there when I wasn't hearing as much from them as I was some other schools so I didn't know how bad they still wanted me. Then they called me this month and after they offered yesterday, I knew this was the right thing to do."
Rachal, 6-5, 295 pounds was recruited to play on the offensive side of the ball for the Trojans. He was an All-State selection a year ago and has a very nice upside to him. Every time we've seen him this year, he has looked better than the previous time. He has a college body right now and plays well in space.
On film, he looks almost too top heavy to move but in person at both the SoCal Nike Camp, USC's lineman camp and the Nike combine, he looked much better, showed better feet and flashed all the raw ability to show that he should be a very good college player down the line.
"I'm excited about this," Rachal said. "To get to stay close to home and play for a great school with a great staff, what more could you want. USC is on the rise and I know we'll be competing for National Championships there. It was just a perfect fit for me."
