Notables: Trojans' 2/2 Throwing Session

Notables from USC's players only throwing session from 2/2/12

The Trojans' players' only throwing session clearly looked voluntary Thursday. With the absence of signalcaller Matt Barkley, about 15 players attended the short session, including recent signee Darreus Rogers.

A couple of players had prior commitments, but Cody Kessler and Robert Woods were two of the headliner names in attendance.

Robert Woods told the media he just got cleared to run on a workout machine, and should be cleared for normal running by next week.

Woods said he'll be cleared by Spring ball.

"I believe so yeah. It won't take much longer."

Woods said he was clearly injured during the season and is glad he took care of it.

"[I was] very hesitant on some routes, limping on some routes in some games. But it's a part of football and sometimes you just got to battle injuries," he said. "And I think it's a learning lesson to take care of my body and stay off the basketball courts as well."

Kessler talked about the offseason and how it differed from when he came in as an early enrollee last year.

"You could tell guys have a lot more energy…but at the same time we're not going to change our whole program just because we have expectations now."

Players like Randall Telfer, Patrick Hall, Max Wittek, Andre Heidari, Kyle Negrete, Scott Starr, Drew McAllister and a handful of others were there Thursday.

Although it was a throwing session, there was a lot more kicking going on.
