DL Marlon Favorite update

The State of Louisiana has been extremely good to USC recently with John David Booty and Ryan Watson part of SC's Class of 2003. There is another big-time defensive talent in the New Orleans (Harvey, LA) area that lists USC as a favorite for the Class of 2004. WeAreSC.com caught up with West Jefferson High School star defensive tackle Marlon Favorite, and he had the following update for us…

Marlon Favorite is a Warren Sapp clone, down to his #99 jersey. He is a Preseason All-American and a national recruit. Favorite currently boasts 16 offers with several more on the way. His phone rang 5-6 times in the short while we did this interview. Some of the schools who have offered include LSU, UCLA, Colorado, Nebraska, Miami, Auburn, Florida, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Tulane, and USC. Out of that group, Marlon singled out LSU, Colorado, and USC as current favorites. Distance will not be a factor in his decision. The Favorite family will be making an unofficial trip out to USC in mid-July. It will be the first time in California for all of them. Needless to say, they are all excited about the trip and checking out Los Angeles. Marlon also plans to visit USC officially. He will not commit early, as he has said he will most likely take all five official trips, and wait until signing day in February to announce his college choice.

Favorite's game is built on strength and quickness. He is currently 6'2" and 310 pounds. He runs a 4.81 forty, benches 420, and squats 510. He was All-Metro and All-West Bank last season while recording 27 sacks and 105 tackles. He also had 11 caused fumbles and 3 fumble recoveries. He is a leader who does not like to lose. He attributes much of his success to his tireless off-season workout schedule, and thinking through the mental part of the game. He will be attending camps this summer at LSU and Auburn. Favorite also throws the discuss and shot put for the track and field team, however he will only play football in college.

Marlon knows of Ryan Watson, and has played against JD Booty. In fact, he sacked Booty the in the third round of the playoffs last fall. Favorite is a 3.0 student who will take the ACT this fall. He plans to major in business management or communications in college with a minor in music. Coach Orgeron has been the recruiting contact for Marlon from USC. Marlon Favorite is one from the Bayou to watch for the Class of 2004.
