Prior to Saturday, Oakley (Calif.) Freedom four-star wide receiver Darrell Daniels had an offer from nearly every school on the West Coast.
Today the West's top receiver added another, and it was a big one.
Daniels made a phone call to USC head coach Lane Kiffin early Saturday morning.
He thought an offer from the Trojans would come sometime in the future, but didn't know this would be the day.
"I was kind of expecting it, but I was a bit surprised," said Daniels.
Grateful for the offer, Daniels now is tasked with reevaluating the long list of schools vying for his talents.
"I like USC a lot," said Daniels. "I like the program, the academics and I like the school."
Fresh off the offer, Daniels is unsure if USC is indeed at the very top of his list, but he said it is "definitely up there."
The opportunity for early playing time, Daniels said, would certainly play a factor in placing the Trojans atop his list.
Daniels plans on attending USC's Rising Stars camp at the end of June and will be at the Oakland NFTC later this month.
