Lindsey Thiry: Where are you at in the recruiting process?
Steven Mitchell: I'm getting recruited pretty heavily, right now I have 19 offers, I just want a few more schools to offer me, then I'll narrow it down.
LT: You say 19 offers pretty calmly, that's a lot of offers…but haven't narrowed it down?
SM: I have a couple of schools that I like, USC, Oregon, and if I get those offers then I can talk to my parents and coaches and narrow my choices.
LT: So they've been recruiting you, but there aren't offers. What have the interactions been like?
SM: I've been calling the coaches every other night and they said to come to the camp so they can evaluate me more.
LT: What is it about the Trojans that you want to be a part of?
SM: It's close to home, I like the school and the tradition.
LT: Camp is in June, what do you want to try to prove at camp?
SM: I want to try to prove that size doesn't matter. It's the receiver and the character.
LT: What are the strengths of your game and other than size what are you trying to improve the most?
SM: One thing I can improve on is my physicality, like against linebackers because they're so physical….but usually I just run right by them – that's one of my strengths.
LT: So timeline-wise, obviously you're going to go to the camps this summer, are you also going to take unofficials to any other of the 19 schools?
SM: I believe I'm taking unofficials, but I don't know what schools yet, so I have to talk to my parents. So we're going to sit down and discuss them.
LT: Officials in the fall, will you be taking them?
LT: You're a California guy, what do you think of some of the other California schools who have been recruiting you?
SM: Another school that I like is Cal. I went up to their junior day and was very impressed. I know the coaches up there very well.
LT: How are you doing today out here on the field?
SM: I'm doing really good. Plenty of touch downs. Our whole team is doing good. We're winning our games and we're just waiting now to see the bracket.
