In a deep year for running backs in Southern California, Loren Wade (4.5) out of Gardena Serra High School still sticks out as one of the most talented. At a self-described "6 foot and 213 pounds", Wade fits the bill as one of the few bigger backs in this recruiting class. Last year Wade was named first team All-CIF as a junior after rushing for almost 1500 yards.
Wade has been busy this summer lifting weights, running, and participating in passing league games with his teammates. He also found time to attend both the Nike camp and the USC camp and was pleased with his performances in both.
Although thought by some to be an imminent verbal commit to USC, Wade stated that he plans to "go through the process" and take some trips. USC is his leader right now however. When the topic of favorites came up, Wade said "I have a top 5. USC, Arizona State, Colorado, Michigan, and Cal. In that order." He has been offered by USC, ASU, and Colorado and has gotten interest from "pretty much everybody."
Of interest to Trojan fans is the fact that Wade's mother works at the University. Might this be a factor in his decision? Wade answered that with, "She kind of wants me to stay close to home, but she's open too."
