Hatcher is a Trojan

Four-star defensive end Jason Hatcher is heading west to play for USC in 2013.

Louisville (Ky.) Trinity defensive end Jason Hatcher gave his verbal commitment to Lane Kiffin and the USC Trojans on Friday evening.

"I wanted to get this out of the way," Hatcher said. "I found a school I am going to be comfortable with for the next four years."

The four-star recruit is the 17th player to commit to USC's 2013 recruiting class.

"I met some of the other (recruits) out there (at The Opening) and built a bond with those guys. I kept in communication and looked at the depth chart and it just seemed like a perfect fit."

"Once my family and I sat down and looked at it and I talked to coaches some more, it was just a perfect fit for me."

Hatcher picked the Trojans over Louisville and Tennessee.

"For a long time, my whole life I always wanted to get away and go somewhere else for college," Hatcher said.

The 6'3" 230 pound recruit is ranked as the No. 3 defensive end in the country and No. 38 overall prospect in the Scout 300.

"Hatcher is a good looking pass rusher who looked good at The Opening," said national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins. "He has a real nice upside to him."

Hatcher's commitment gives USC a dominant defensive line class that features a pair of five-star defensive tackles and four-star defensive ends.

"With the No. 1 recruiting class coming in, it's only going to get better out there," Hatcher said. "We're just stacking up."
