QUOTES: Post-game Interviews

USC walked away from their season opener against Hawai'i with a 49-10 win. After the game, we sat down with head coach Lane Kiffin and players Marqise Lee, Matt Barkley, and Hayes Pullard.

Lane Kiffin:

Opening statement:
"Well, we're 1-0 a lot of teams in the country aren't."

"So I think the storyline would probably be the defense, the first team defense and the defensive line. You know, a lot of question marks there coming in, and it seemed like they made a lot of plays there up front."

On Marqise Lee:
"Our expectations are higher than the way he played today."

"I think he'll be the best one ever when it's all said and done. I really do."

"He handled the hype really well."

On Silas Redd:
"He did well for a first game, getting in there getting comfortable, the fumble was disappointing, but he had a nice touchdown run."

On the defensive line play:
"I'm very proud of those guys, like I said that was really the story of the day."

Marqise Lee:

On his dropped passes:
"When you do a play numerous times in practice and you always catch it, you expect to do it in a game. And it came up in the game and I should have actually caught it."

On his big plays:
"The receiving touchdown, our coach always emphasized, 'make one move and get up, don't try to do too much.' Matt gave me a perfect ball and one move and get up was the main focus in my head, coach just reiterated it so every time so I just did what he said."

"I always have the mindset to try to take it all the way."

Matt Barkley:

On their performance:
"We're just excited to play football again."

On Max Wittek:
"I think he did well, he came out and fired a rock out there. I think it will just take some time for all those guys."
