Lee says 'no way' will he play defense

UCLA Coach Jim Mora says Marqise Lee is "not an NFL prospect, he's an NFL for-sure" and that he could "start in the NFL right now." Surely Mora was talking about Lee's receiving abilities, but will Mora also have to plan for Lee on defense?

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The Heisman campaign for Marqise Lee continued on Monnday when the USC Athletics Department released anther video highlighting Lee's feats in the Trojans' 38-17 win over Arizona State on Sunday.

"I'm not focused on that at all," Lee said after practice on Tuesday. "I appreciate it, but my main focus is just going on with the game and continue to play the way I need to play in order for our team to win."

The sophomore sensation made ten catches for 161 yards and a touchdown. He also carried the ball six times for 67 yards, including what could be the play of the year for Lee so far, when he reversed a reverse, nearly scoring on the play. All of this despite telling Coach Lane Kiffin 45 minutes prior to the game that he was having an allergic reaction and could barely open his eyes.

"For a day when Marqise wasn't 100 percent," Kiffin said, "he still did well."

Lee even took the field on defense at safety but did not record a snap at the position as it proved to be the distraction the Trojans' anticipated, forcing Arizona State to take a delay of game penalty, forcing them to punt the ball.

As far as if Lee will play defense this week against UCLA?

He laughed after practice saying, "No way, it's not going to happen."

Based off that response, perhaps the Bruins would be smart to worry about Lee not only on offense Saturday…but defense, too.
