Five-Star: Ty Isaac

Five-star running back Ty Issac is now officially a USC Trojan after sending in his National Letter of Intent.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — He stands 6-foot-3 and is 225-pounds. Ty Isaac is all running back. The five-star recruit is the big back the Trojans have been looking for.

He committed to USC on May 15, after taking one of multiple unofficial visits to USC.

"There was something about them that had always intrigued me," Isaac told FOX Sports NEXT after announcing his commitment. "I couldn't tell you what, but towards the end of that little run when it felt like I was getting an offer every day, there was a little period nobody came in and (Joliet Catholic) Coach (Dan) Sharp said, 'Are there any other schools I need to talk to, or are you pretty set?' I said I wanted to wait and see if SC comes through and the next day, they called and offered, so from there, I kind of waited on that offer. It wasn't a dream school or anything, I just was interested in them. I couldn't tell you why. They offered and from there, the rest is history."

Isaac was originally set to enroll early at USC, until a snag in one of his high school classes meant he would have to delay enrollment. The timing of this decision coincided with the downturn of USC's football record, but Isaac assured FOX Sports NEXT his commitment wasn't wavering, it was merely logistics holding him back.

"I know they didn't have the best season," he explained in December, "but it would have to be something other than that for me to want to be elsewhere."

After rushing for over 1,500 yards and 22 touchdowns in his senior season at Joliet (Ill.) Joliet Catholic Acadamy, Isaac was named an Under Armour All-American.

He spoke with FOX Sports NEXT at the Under Armour All-American game about his commitment to USC, a verbal agreement that didn't seem as solid as it once was. "I can't predict the future," he said. "If I did, I'd be more happy about everything.

Right now, it's more stressful, cause at this point, there is a lot going on. It's not what I expected at this point in time."

Isaac's only official visit was to USC.

Allen Trieu on Ty Isaac:
Tall, good sized back with the speed to break long runs. Is very smooth, changes directions well and has deceptive elusiveness. Is an excellent route runner and receiver out of the backfield who occasionally can split out or play in the slot. Does a lot of running from the wingback position, so he'll likely have to get used to inside running and blitz pick-up from a more traditional tailback spot in college.
