Bailey back to safety

USC released its depth chart following the Trojans 15 spring practices. Redshirt junior Dion Bailey will be moving back to safety, where he was originally recruited.

USC redshirt junior Dion Bailey told FOX Sports NEXT prior to the start of spring practices that he was expecting to move from linebacker to safety in time for the 2013 season.

On Monday USC head coach Lane Kiffin released the Trojans' post-spring depth chart and indeed, Bailey is listed at safety.

The head coach cited the improved play of linebackers Anthony Sarao and Lamar Dawson for reasons to move Bailey back to the secondary, a position that's been ailing in injury and lacking in skill.

Despite being unable to practice this spring due to his continued recovery from shoulder surgery, the transition from linebacker to safety is expected to be a smooth one. Prior to moving to linebacker following his redshirt season, Bailey played safety his entire football career. He has attended meetings with the secondary throughout the spring.
